Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26 1991) better known by her stage name Ari Lennox is an American singer and songwriter from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist to be affiliated with J. Cole's label Dreamville Records. On the 21st October of 2016 Pho was released by her, her debut EP for the label Dreamville Records. That was the day she first gained recognition. Her first album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7 2019. Ari Lennox posted her debut music on the internet in 2012. She released the single Five Finger Discount in 2013 and Ariography EP in 2013. In 2014, she dropped further music online including Bound. In July of 2015, she sung on Omen's album Elephant Eyes on the track Sweat It Out. J. Cole, who was a part of the Dreamville crew at the time, wanted to have her perform on Rihanna reference. On the 8th of December, it was reported that she had officially signed by Dreamville Records. Backseat, the track she recorded together with Cozz to record her Revenge of the Dreamers II album that they co-produced. The 21st of October, 2016, she debuted her first EP called Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening act for J. Cole on his song Change in 2017. She also performed on 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018, she was able to perform as a guest artist on two songs with her labelmates EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on the 16th of July in 2018. The music video then released in September. She dropped her follow-up single called Grampa on the 9th of November. She then released on November 13 two brand new singles, titled No One and Pedigree. She was featured with Cole in the Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby the 16th of November 16and later released the song on her own single to accompany her first album. A music video was released on the 20th of February in conjunction with the song. Within a week, it had over 3,000,000 views. She was the opening act for 6LACK on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December, 2018.
